For coaches and managers looking for tools to enhance their coaching. Also for anyone who would like to know more about Solutions Focused coaching.
Workshop
Scaling is a surprisingly powerful tool for use in individual and team coaching. Whilst providing the backbone of Solutions Focused coaching (it is the 'S' of the 'OSKAR' model devised by Paul Z Jackson & Mark McKergow) it also works very effectively with other coaching approaches.
Scaling is a neat and easily accessible way to help clients discover and amplify the differences that make the difference to their progress.
In this highly practical, informative and interactive session you will be introduced to Solutions Focus as an approach to coaching and change and learn why, when and how you can use scaling to:
You will take away a set of practical tools that can you can start to use straight away in your coaching.
This session will be a mix of facilitated group processes and speed sharing. The tools will be briefly introduced and you will then have the opportunity to apply them straight away by working in coaching pairs and groups.

For all coaches at all levels and particularly those working with organisational leaders, executives, managers and teams.
Coaching's entering adult-hood in the 21st century. From its birth in the sports field developing performance, migrating to the business world with an ever increasing emphasis on 'results' and now to a position where global corporates, technology and unconscious humanity have the ability to destroy our world as well as develop it.
As Sir John Whitmore noted in his keynote at the 2008 Association for Coaching conference, "Quantitative technological advance is far ahead of qualitative wisdom!" And there's a stirring in the collective unconscious perhaps because of this lop-sidedness.
Increasingly our clients are bringing issues of yearning for an identity beyond the superficial and for a sense of meaning and purpose in their lives as in the ubiquitous search for work/life balance! They're bringing the potential to evolve and contribute to the systems to which they belong rather than just self-serve as was the flavour of the late 20th century.
They're 'awakening, rousing from sleep, emerging from a state of indifference, lethargy...' or 'becoming fully conscious, aware and appreciative' (Webster's dictionary). And we coaches have a pivotal role in that process.
Firstly in evolving ourselves! Expanding so as to be able and equipped to midwife this significant transition towards inner-directed and far more meaningful relational behaviour in our own and our clients' personal and professional lives.
Passion and Success indeed for our clients and for ourselves! Developing as Robert Dilts suggests from 'Coach' to 'Awakener', incorporating all of our professional evolution so we can coach with a capital 'C'.
You will leave with an overview of Dilts' model, your current major identification as a coach, areas for development (or not!), meeting your own 'Awakener' and pinpointing your next evolutionary step.

Panel Discussion
If you are such a great coach, how come you're not successful (enough)? If only you could step into a job as a coach, so you can get on with coaching whilst someone else deals with the marketing and admin. Is this what it is like to be an associate coach?

For coaches looking for new skills
Clean Language 'goes between the lines' of a conversation, focusing in and gathering insights and information about words, phrases, metaphors and non verbals, which are often lurking, untapped, just beneath the surface.
Devised by psychotherapist David Grove during the 80s and 90s, Clean Language is now being used, in varying degrees, by many coaches. Some use it extensively, while others dip in and out of it, when it seems appropriate - in particular when clients use metaphor to describe their experience. Others save it for 'moments of extreme stuckness'.
Marian will explain what Clean Language is, how it works, how it can facilitate powerful changes in clients, and how different coaches are using it.
During the workshop, you will also have an opportunity to have a go at asking some questions and to find out what it's like to have some clean questions asked of you.

Closing Keynote
Coaching has been around, as a formally recognised profession, for the last twenty or so years.
Why has it emerged now? What issues does it address? What is its future? And how is coaching about much more than just coaching?
Is coaching just about helping people achieve more, or is it about something bigger than that? Are we there merely to help our clients reach their goals, or to help them articulate something deeper?
In this session, we will explore the wider context in which coaching sits - the world we live in now is changing fast, and we need to explore different ways of being in this emerging world.
It is increasingly clear that "more of the same" is not an option. We need to ask fundamental questions about the assumptions we have made about how we live and work, in order to deal effectively with the changes and challenges we are facing.
Coaching needs to address these larger concerns if it is to have a sustainable future, and, more importantly, if it is to be of service to our world.
This will be a thought-provoking and stimulating presentation, offering questions and new perspectives about coaching and the world in which we do our work.
There will also be time for questions and discussion.
